Frank was born in 1963 in Weimar and lives in Berlin-Mitte. He has been kicking about since 1971, playing for Motor Weimar, Traktor Kromsdorf, Empor Weimar. Lately he plays left-back for the German Writers team, stalled by quite successful daily training sessions; in his living-room with Artur, his little son, that is. In between, he is producing one football-book after the other and contributing the semi-monthly column "Unterklasse Fußballdeutschland" to Berlin newspaper Junge Welt, where he ponders on the adventures of the German Writers team. In 2006 he published, together with co-editors Christof Meueler and Torsten Schulz, "Der Ball ist aus. 32 Autoren über 32 Mannschaften und eine Weltmeisterschaft" ("The ball is out. 32 authors about 32 teams and one World Cup" (published by Eulenspiegelverlag).
