Ernst Brunner, born 1950. One of the most prominent writers of his generation.
Published 16 books, mostly novels but also poetry, many of which have been translated into several languages. His most recent novels include ”Fukta din aska” (2002), on 18th-century poet Carl Michael Bellman, and “Carolus Rex” on the Swedish soldier king Carolus XII.
Versatile not only in dribbling with a leather sphere, Mr Brunner also had a career as an ice-hockey player. Many of his books take place in the city of Stockholm, where he also lives. Among the most well-known books of Brunner are the novel ”Svarta Villan” (1987), ”Kocksgatan” (1991) and ”Sorgen per capita” (1990, poetry).
